In 1989 I rode my '87 Savage to the Sturgis rally and had a great time. That year the only identification on the bike was a stylized "S" on the tank so it was not immediately identifiable as a Suzuki. The most heard comment was, "Where's the other half of your engine?"

The Savage is great on the twisting roads in the Black Hills and nobody is in a big hurry to get anywhere so you don't need a lot of speed. The only drawback is if the weather is hot and you want to putt around town a lot. The stop and go traffic combined with hot weather can cause the engine to run hot but there's lots of beer available to cool you (and your Savage) down.

Be sure to check out the small town in the hills, not just Sturgis. If you don't mind riding on gravel, there are thousands of miles of back roads to enjoy.

Have fun.
